Responsibility

The CUKHR Group is a sub-committee of the CUK Board which is the voice of conservatoire education in the UK. The role of the CUK group draws on point 8 in the CUK main Terms of Reference: ‘to be a forum for sharing ideas, information and policy about conservatoire education.’ Specifically, the aims of the group are:

  1. To share HR policy and practices widely amongst the eleven conservatoires in CUK;
  2. To engage, specifically, with the distinctive challenges and opportunities presented by conservatoire education as it effects both staff and the delivery of successful teaching;
  3. To monitor sector-wide activities which impact on HR in the specialist educational context;
  4. To act as advocates for good employment practice across the sector;
  5. To consider institutional strategies and policy development in matters relating to equality, diversity and inclusion that promote and foster a tolerant and inclusive working and learning environment.
  6. To work together to formulate shared services where appropriate;
  7. To offer periods of consultation in areas where individual institutions have developed particular best practice.
  8. To share and exchange data for best practice and benchmarking via the CUKHR shared drive using the agreed format.
